OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 07/28/2026, a Georgia State Patrol trooper attempted to stop a black Honda Civic for a window tint violation on Cobb Parkway. After initially pulling over, the driver continued driving away as the trooper approached the vehicle, leading troopers on a short pursuit south on Cobb Parkway. Traffic slowed near Circle 75 Parkway, where a trooper blocked the Honda from the front to bring it to a stop. When troopers approached the vehicle, they found the driver dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. A passenger was removed from the vehicle and was not physically injured. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Georgia Department of Public Safety's Office of Professional Standards are investigating the incident.
