On 07/27/2026, Titusville Police Department officers pursued a driver after receiving information from the Daytona Beach Police Department that the vehicle was connected to a homicide of the fleeing driver’s wife in Volusia County. The driver continued driving while police pursued him and entered Sand Point Park, where the vehicle crashed into a pond. Officers established a perimeter after reports the driver was armed, and SWAT officers, an armored vehicle, drones, and dive teams responded to the scene. After the vehicle was recovered from the pond, the driver, Robert Reyes, Jr., was found dead inside. Authorities stated that no officers fired their weapons.
