OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 08/01/2026, San Antonio Police Department officers responded to reports of a man waving a handgun in the 600 block of Aurora Avenue near Alderete Park. Police reported the man was standing across the street from his residence holding a loaded handgun. Officers repeatedly ordered him to drop the weapon and attempted to negotiate with him. Police stated the man did not surrender the handgun and officers perceived a threat. Five officers fired, striking the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Acting Police Chief Jesse Salame stated there was no evidence the man fired his weapon. The shooting remains under investigation and the findings will be submitted to the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney for review.
