OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 08/03/2026, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputies heard gunfire near High and Mound streets in downtown Columbus. A deputy reportedly saw people in two vehicles exchanging gunfire and began pursuing one of the vehicles. The pursuit continued to East Livingston Street, where police found the male driver inside the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound apparently sustained during the earlier exchange of gunfire. He was transported to a hospital and later died. Another man arrived separately at Grant Medical Center with a gunshot wound and was treated and released. The investigation extended across four locations, including High and Mound streets, East Livingston Street, Kent Street and Gault Street.
