On 08/13/2026, 46-year-old Geronimo Urbina was shot and killed by Guadalupe County sheriff’s deputies at a residence in the 400 block of Hurst Lane near Seguin, Texas. Deputies had been dispatched shortly before 2:45 a.m. for a reported domestic disturbance.

According to the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office, a male caller told a 911 dispatcher that Urbina was going to kill a woman inside the residence. Multiple deputies arrived within approximately seven minutes of the call. Deputies reported hearing screaming from inside the home and entered the residence.

The Sheriff’s Office said deputies encountered Urbina holding a knife to the woman’s neck. Deputies ordered Urbina to drop the knife. According to the department, Urbina did not comply, and deputies fired because they believed the woman faced an immediate threat. Urbina was struck by police gunfire and died from his injuries.
