NARRATIVE:
On 04/07/2026, 50-year-old Sean Daniel died after Yonkers Police Department officers attempted to use Tasers on him and physically restrained and handcuffed him inside an apartment building at 165 Bruce Avenue in Yonkers, New York.

Yonkers police responded to the building following a report of a violent disturbance. Officers encountered Daniel and attempted to take him into custody.

During the encounter, officers attempted two Taser deployments against Daniel. Yonkers police subsequently alleged that both deployments were ineffective. Officers then physically restrained Daniel and placed him in handcuffs.

Shortly after Daniel was handcuffed, he became unresponsive. Officers and emergency medical personnel provided medical assistance, and Daniel was transported to a hospital, where he died.

Yonkers police subsequently said an autopsy and toxicology testing were being conducted. Police also stated that a preliminary examination indicated Daniel had significant preexisting medical conditions.
