OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

Pysher was unarmed and had accidentally gone to the wrong house, believing it was the home of a friend. He had been out with friends celebrating a birthday late on 08/22/2026. When the group decided to continue the gathering at a friend's house, Pysher walked there alone. According to his mother, after drinking and walking through the dark, he became confused and mistakenly arrived at a residence on Snyder Road in Upper Pottsgrove Township.

Believing he had reached his friend's house, Pysher reportedly knocked on the door and called out to be let inside. His mother said he rang the doorbell, went around to the back of the house and knocked again while trying to contact his friends. Pysher reportedly even sent his friends a video showing where he was, and they told him he was at the wrong house and were preparing to pick him up.

The residents, who did not know Pysher, were startled and called 911 at approximately 12:29-12:32 a.m. to report what authorities characterized as a possible attempted break-in.

Upper Pottsgrove Township police responded and encountered Pysher behind the residence. Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said only that an “encounter ensued” and police fired at Pysher, killing him. Authorities have not publicly explained what occurred during that encounter or what prompted police to use deadly force.

Pysher's mother said he was unarmed and had only a cell phone and book bag. She said telephone records showed that Pysher was still talking with his friends at approximately 12:32-12:33 a.m. and that she believes police had shot him by approximately 12:35 a.m., only minutes after the 911 call.

Backyard surveillance cameras reportedly recorded the fatal police encounter. The footage is being reviewed as part of the investigation but has not been publicly released.

Pysher was a college student who had recently transferred to Saint Elizabeth University in New Jersey, where he planned to play baseball. He had been scheduled to begin the new school year the day after he was killed.

Cpl. Sean Farrell, 58, the shooter officer, was charged with voluntary manslaughter on September 2, 2026.
