On 12/12/2025 a Calvert County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted a traffic stop on a Nissan sedan on Route 4 in Prince Frederick and activated emergency lights. The driver did not stop and the deputy continued following as the Nissan reached an estimated speed over 83 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. At the intersection of Route 4 and Stoakley Road the Nissan crashed into a Honda sedan driven by Servon Gatewood and also struck a Kia sport utility vehicle. Gatewood was taken to CalvertHealth Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. The Kia driver and passenger were hospitalized with injuries described as not life threatening. Investigators later charged the Nissan driver Savon Quincy Samuel with felony negligent manslaughter by vehicle and related offenses and the Maryland Office of the Attorney General Independent Investigations Division is reviewing the pursuit and collision.

On 12/11/2025, Phillip Biddle, age 62, died after being struck by a vehicle during a police pursuit in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Fort Wayne Police officers attempted a traffic stop just after 6:00 a.m. when a vehicle fled, circling the area. While turning from Fourth Street onto Spy Run Avenue, the fleeing vehicle struck Biddle, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Afterward, the vehicle continued and struck another car before the driver stopped and fled on foot. Officers later found the man hiding in a backyard and took him into custody. Multiple charges are pending against the driver in relation to the crash and death.

On 12/08/2025, officers in St. Louis attempted to stop a stolen vehicle. The driver refused to stop and police escalated a chase through north St. Louis. The pursuit ended when the fleeing vehicle crashed at North Broadway and Christian Avenue. The driver was killed on impact. Two bystanders were injured in the collision. On 12/08/2025 a North County Police Cooperative officer escalated a pursuit in north St Louis. Police chased him through multiple streets at high speeds. Near Dr Martin Luther King Drive and Burd Avenue his vehicle overturned and hit a parked car. The forty one year old man died at the scene. Two people in the parked vehicle were injured and taken for treatment. The St Louis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating.

On 12/07/2025 Pennsylvania State Police attempted to stop Cristian F Jimenez just after midnight. Police chased him and he struck two troopers as he fled. Jimenez continued driving until he lost control near 12th Street and Vultee Street where he hit a hydrant a pole and then a building. He was ejected and died from his injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
