Al Stenson, 38, was seen at the Slumberland Motel in Sanford with a gun. Initially, Polk County deputies were able to convince Stenson to put down a handgun on the ground. SWAT team members used non-lethal force to try to get Stenson in custody but after the non-lethal force was used, he allegedly reached down toward the gun, and four members of law enforcement shot and killed him.

Doroteo Martinez-Castro was involved in a head-on crash April 22 in unincorporated Haines City at the intersection of U.S. Highway 17/92 and Lee Jackson Highway North. One man died from his injuries shortly after the crash. Martinez-Castro was charged with DUI manslaughter, was arrested after being treated and released.
After being booked into the Polk County Jail, he became ill in the South County Jail medical dorm. He was taken to ahospital where he died. An initial autopsy shows he died from "crash-related internal injuries," deputies noted.
