Around 2 a.m., Fort Myers Police Department officers responded to multiple reports of gunshots at 2102 Dora Street in Fort Myers, Florida. Upon arrival, they were met with gunfire from an individual who then barricaded himself inside the residence for over 12 hours. At approximately 10 a.m., two people fled the home without injury. On 01/20/2021, Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of gunfire at a residence on Great Falls Terrace in Port Charlotte and found a woman fatally shot inside a vehicle in the driveway. Deputies determined Allyn Harry Harris had fired multiple rounds into the vehicle and then retreated into the home, initiating a prolonged armed standoff. Deputies deployed aviation support, SWAT units, and negotiators while establishing a perimeter and ordering nearby residents to shelter in place. After hours of attempted contact and tactical operations, deputies entered and located Harris deceased inside the residence from a self inflicted gunshot wound. As deputies approached, Stevens fled the home, got into his car, and drove away. The child was unharmed.
