On 01/20/2021, Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of gunfire at a residence on Great Falls Terrace in Port Charlotte and found a woman fatally shot inside a vehicle in the driveway. Deputies determined Allyn Harry Harris had fired multiple rounds into the vehicle and then retreated into the home, initiating a prolonged armed standoff. Deputies deployed aviation support, SWAT units, and negotiators while establishing a perimeter and ordering nearby residents to shelter in place.
