On May 4, 2025, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Officer Patrick Burke responded to a domestic disturbance call at the Normandy Estates Mobile Home Park. A woman reported that her boyfriend, Michael Lee Wright, had attacked her earlier that day. Upon arrival, Officer Burke encountered Wright, who aggressively confronted the officer by attacking the patrol vehicle and jumping onto its hood. Wright then charged at Officer Burke with an object in his hand, later identified as a pair of scissors. Despite repeated commands to drop the weapon, Wright continued his assault. Officer Burke opened fire multiple times. Wright was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.Prior to incident, Wright had reportedly sent a text message to his girlfriend stating, "I'm going to die today," and during the confrontation, he repeatedly told the officer, "Just kill me." The State Attorney’s Office is conducting an independent investigation into the shooting, after which JSO will perform its own internal review.

On May 1, 2025, around 9:30 p.m., a Chattahoochee police officer initiated a pursuit of a 2016 Lincoln MKX SUV for a suspected drug offense on U.S. Highway 90. Police chase the vehicle until it crossed county lines into Sneads, Florida, reaching speeds of 130 mph, and the occupants were seen throwing meth and other drugs from the vehicle. The vehicle lost control turning onto Old Spanish Trail, struck a manhole, flipped, and hit construction equipment. The 40-year-old male driver from Camilla, Georgia, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. A 32-year-old male passenger was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The Florida Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.

On May 1, 2025, Orlando police officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a man waving a gun near a 7-Eleven and other nearby businesses along Conroy Road. The man, identified as 25-year-old Orlin Manuel Bueso Calderon, was seen entering a dry cleaners and walking through a strip mall parking lot while holding what appeared to be a handgun.Officers located Calderon in the parking lot of the Bella Vita Apartments at 4620 Cason Cove Drive. Five officers opened fire, fatally striking him. The weapon recovered at the scene was determined to be a simulated firearm resembling a Glock handgun, possibly a BB or pellet gun. Calderon had a prior criminal history, including charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon and possession of cocaine. No officers were injured during the incident. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting an investigation into the shooting.

Around 3:27 a.m. on April 30, 2025, deputies responded to a 911 call about a man damaging property and threatening the caller inside a residence on Palm Circle in Palm Shores. The caller locked herself in a bathroom and said the man was out of control. A deputy arrived and helped the woman escape the home. As the deputy approached the front door to make contact, the man emerged holding a knife and advanced toward him. The deputy opened fire and struck the man. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

On April 26, 2025, deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on the 6400 block of Emerald Dunes Drive. Upon arrival, deputies saw 20-year-old Alonzo Riser actively stabbing his father with a sword. After giving verbal commands that were not followed, a deputy opened fire, striking and killing Alonzo. His father, 52-year-old Tyrone Riser, died from stab wounds. The deputy was placed on paid administrative leave. On 04/25/2025, 64-year-old Richard Harvey Daugherty was fatally shot by law enforcement during a standoff in Okeechobee County, Florida. The incident began when deputies responded to reports of a shooting at a residence on NW 50th Avenue, where they found one person deceased. Daugherty had barricaded himself inside the home. After a prolonged standoff, he was shot and killed by deputies. Another individual was taken into custody. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident.

John Snyder, 37, was fatally shot by a Polk County Sheriff's deputy on April 25, 2025, after allegedly moving toward a deputy with a knife near a McDonald's on U.S. 92 in Lakeland. On April 23, 2025, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a man walking near the intersection of Windingwood Avenue and Providence Road in Brandon, Florida, while wearing body armor and carrying a fully loaded assault rifle. The man, identified as 34-year-old Vincent Morin, was dressed in battle fatigues with body armor and a communications headset, and had two additional magazines in his vest. Deputies issued multiple commands for Morin to drop his weapon, but he did not comply. Three deputies—Lt. William Gergel, Deputy Matthew Fluck, and Deputy Courtney Baldwin—then discharged their firearms, striking Morin. On April 20, 2025, around 1:30 a.m., Orlando police officers observed a physical altercation outside Thrive Cocktail Lounge & Eatery on South Orange Avenue. On April 18, 2025, 34-year-old Wayne Volz held his parents hostage for several hours at their home in Fort Meade, Florida. During the standoff, he pistol-whipped his mother and threatened his father's life. Volz later accompanied his father to a hardware store in Bartow, where his father managed to discreetly alert authorities. As deputies and officers approached the scene, Volz shot a Polk County deputy in the forearm and a Bartow police officer in the chest—both survived. Officers opened fire during the confrontation in the parking lot of the Atkins Building on North Broadway Avenue. Volz was shot multiple times and later died at the hospital. Around 2:00 p.m., Deputy Will May responded to a disturbance call at the Dollar General on Highway 90 in Mossy Head. He made contact with a man inside the store. As they exited, the man pulled a gun and shot the deputy multiple times. Deputy May opened fire and killed him. The man was pronounced dead on scene. Deputy May was taken to North Okaloosa Medical Center and died at 7:10 p.m.

Samuel Vaia, 33, was accused of shooting and killing his ex-wife, Ashley Vaia, inside her Deltona home. Deputies responded to the Parma Drive residence after Ashley’s child called 911 around 2:23 a.m. Vaia fled in a white SUV, and law enforcement tracked his vehicle northbound on Interstate 95 at over 100 mph. Flagler County deputies joined the chase, which ended when Vaia crashed at Palm Harbor Parkway and Hammock Dunes Parkway in Palm Coast. Deputies approached and found him with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to a hospital where he died. Vaia had been arrested on 03/23/2025 for battering Ashley but was released on bond the following day.

On March 26, 2025, Broward Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment in the 3100 block of Hallandale Beach Boulevard. Inside, they found four victims killed by gunfire: Julie Cruz, 32; her 11-year-old son Xion Solomon; and 2-year-old twin sons Nova and Emery McKenzie. Her 8-year-old daughter Phiinyx Solomon was found wounded and hospitalized in critical condition. The shooter, identified as Stephen McKenzie, 34, was the estranged partner of Cruz and father of the twins. He was found at the scene with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition and died five days later on March 31. Family members said Cruz had tried to leave the relationship and had recently moved into the apartment.

On March 29, 2025, at approximately 7 a.m., a Stuart Police Department officer responded to a report of a man acting erratically and armed with a knife at the Sierra Condominiums. Upon arrival, the officer encountered 36-year-old Kenneth Christopher Cook, who was reportedly stalking a woman with the knife. After a brief interaction, Cook retreated into his residence and emerged with a larger knife, approximately eight or nine inches in length, and charged at the officer. The officer opened fire, discharging four rounds and striking Cook twice. Cook was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The Martin County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation into the incident.

On March 21, 2025, a Fort Myers Police officer attempted a traffic stop on a 2013 Kia Forte. The driver did not stop and struck the officer before continuing northbound on Central Avenue. Officers escalated a chase. The driver failed to navigate a curve and crashed into a building at 2055 Central Avenue. She was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. The officer who was struck sustained injuries and was reported in stable condition. Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.

On 03/19/2025, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper observed a vehicle committing multiple moving violations on the Florida Turnpike. When the trooper attempted a traffic stop, the driver did not stop. Police escalated a chase that continued until the vehicle entered I-595, exited at University Drive, and continued driving erratically, including traveling in the wrong direction and running multiple red lights. The vehicle sideswiped two cars and then T-boned a third near Marcano Boulevard. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Several individuals from the other vehicles were transported to a hospital in stable condition. The deceased driver's identity has not been released.

On March 15, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a Miami Police Department cruiser was involved in a traffic collision at the intersection of Northwest 7th Street and 47th Avenue. The officer’s vehicle was traveling eastbound on 7th Street when it collided with a Toyota sedan making a left turn onto 47th Avenue. The impact caused the police cruiser to veer onto the sidewalk, striking two pedestrians at a bus stop.

Michelle Veronica Salmeron Membreno, 23, was critically injured and transported to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she died. A second pedestrian was hospitalized in stable condition with leg injuries. The officer involved was also transported to the hospital and later released.

The Miami Police Department's traffic homicide unit is investigating to determine whether the officer's emergency lights were activated and the speed of the vehicles involved.

On 03/12/2025, at approximately 9 a.m., Officer A.C. Gaulding of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Trout River Boulevard and Ribault Avenue in Jacksonville, Florida. A male driver pulled into a driveway and attempted to exit his vehicle. Despite Officer Gaulding's command to remain inside, he leaned out and began firing at the officer, striking him in the foot. Officer Gaulding opened fire, hitting him multiple times. He was found wearing a bulletproof vest, and multiple firearms were recovered from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

On 03/04/2025, Jessie Kirk, 72, was reported missing after failing to show up for her routine morning walk in Titusville, Florida. A friend reported her missing, and Titusville Police began searching for her. Officers found David Armstrong Barber, 35, a former Brevard County corrections deputy, near Kirk’s condominium. He exhibited suspicious behavior and had recent burn injuries. Later that day, Kirk's vehicle was found burned near State Road 50 and State Road 520 in Orange County. Kirk’s burned body was discovered near the Haulover Canal in north Brevard County. Barber was arrested and charged with first-degree premeditated murder, arson, burglary of an occupied structure, abuse of a dead human body, theft, and tampering with evidence.
