On April 20, 2025, around 1:30 a.m., Orlando police officers observed a physical altercation outside Thrive Cocktail Lounge & Eatery on South Orange Avenue. During the incident, 38-year-old Johnathan Angel Flores was seen dropping a handgun from his pants. As officers approached, Flores retrieved the weapon and fired it into the air. Officers issued multiple commands for him to drop the weapon. When he did not comply, officers shot and killed him.
