On April 17, 2025, Paulding County deputies responded to a welfare check at a residence on Hemlock Glen in Dallas, Georgia. The call was initiated after Jameel Johnson's mother reported to her employer that her son was acting erratically; the employer then contacted 911, noting the presence of firearms in the home. Upon arrival, deputies were led to Johnson's bedroom, where he was lying in bed. Johnson opened fire with a handgun, striking Deputy Brice Mattick in the shoulder. Deputies returned fire, fatally shooting Johnson. Deputy Mattick was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital and has since been released. On April 17, 2025, Robert Smith, 35, of Cookeville, Tennessee, was wanted for aggravated assault out of Nashville. He allegedly kidnapped a woman and her child in Atlanta, demanding she drive him to Nashville at gunpoint. They stopped at a Buc-ee’s in Calhoun, Georgia, where the woman sought help inside the store. When Calhoun police arrived, Smith fired at officers and carjacked a customer’s vehicle, fleeing north on I-75. During the pursuit, he fired at deputies before fatally shooting himself. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the case.

At approximately 2:35 a.m., Rockdale County Sheriff's deputies attempted to stop a vehicle near Old Salem Road and Underwood Road. The male driver exited his vehicle and was chased by police into Salem Lake. Police stood by as he swam until he disappeared from view. Police alleged that due to low visibility, they did not search for him until daylight. His body was recovered the following day at 7 p.m.

Kenneth Edward Bailey, the rapper known as Young Scooter, died on March 28, 2025—his 39th birthday—following a police pursuit in southeast Atlanta. On March 22, 2025, a deputy with the Bryan County Sheriff's Office attempted a traffic stop near Sterling Curve on Georgia State Route 144. The driver in a white BMW did not stop, and officers escalated a chase. The driver passed vehicles and lost control in a curve, striking another car and sending both vehicles into the woods. Darren Lewis, a husband, father, and ex-Marine, was remembered by neighbors in the Liberty City community as a kind and quiet individual who brought positivity to those around him. John Jackson, a neighbor, remarked, "He was cool people, he was quiet, he didn’t make no noise, just laugh and talk." Another neighbor, Doreather Woods, shared, "Everything I know about him was nice... He was just a nice person." A memorial with flowers and a cross was established along Liberty Parkway to honor his memory.

On March 8, 2025, at approximately 7:10 p.m., 54-year-old Russell David Payne drove to a residence on Wood Station Road in Rock Spring, Georgia, where his estranged wife, Jacklyn D. Payne, was residing with her father, Eugene "Jack" Denny. Payne fired multiple rounds into the rear of the house before entering and fatally shooting both Jacklyn and Eugene. Off-duty Chickamauga Police Officer Charles "Chuck" Dunn, a longtime family friend present at the scene, attempted to intervene and was critically injured during the confrontation. Payne then died by suicide at the scene. Officer Dunn was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on March 13, 2025. The Walker County Sheriff's Office is conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.

On 02/13/2025, a Blackshear Police Department officer attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Corey Ray Beale. Beale did not stop. Police escalated a chase that entered Brantley County. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office and Georgia State Patrol joined the chase. A Georgia State Trooper performed a PIT maneuver on Beale's car, ending the pursuit along Highway 32 near the intersection of Highways 32 and 301. After the car came to a stop, Beale shot himself while inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

On February 10, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., a Gwinnett County Police Department officer was driving east on Beaver Ruin Road near the I-85 interchange in Norcross, Georgia. During this time, 19-year-old Martinez Greenlee III reportedly began crossing the road. The officer's vehicle struck Greenlee. Greenlee was transported to a local hospital by Gwinnett Fire and EMS personnel but died from his injuries. Forsyth County Sheriff's deputies located the vehicle near Peachtree Parkway and Sharon Road and initiated a pursuit. The chase concluded near South Forsyth High School when deputies employed a "box-in" maneuver to stop the car, which then collided with a Forsyth County patrol vehicle. Upon approaching the stopped vehicle, deputies found the teenager unresponsive with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

On 12/09/2024, a fatal vehicle crash occurred in Rome, Georgia, involving a responding police officer and 66-year-old Tammie Pickelsimer. The crash happened at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Highway and Cedartown Highway as officers raced to a reported bomb threat at the residence of U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene.

The Rome Police Department received an email threatening that a pipe bomb had been placed in Rep. Greene’s mailbox. The email included specific details about the alleged device, describing it as "a 1×8 inch threaded galvanized pipe, end caps, a kitchen timer, some wires, metal clips and homemade black powder." The sender expressed satisfaction at the prospect of harm coming to law enforcement or Rep. Greene, concluding with the phrase "VIVA VIVA PALESTINA." which according to police was "traced to a "Russian IP address", referenced Palestine and led to a high-priority response, including a bomb squad dispatched to Greene’s residence. IP addresses are easy to change and the email appears to have been a hoax.

During the response, an officer driving his personal vehicle crashed into Ms. Pickelsimer's car. Emergency responders pronounced Ms. Pickelsimer dead at the scene. The officer sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The bomb squad later confirmed that there was no active threat at Rep. Greene’s residence. This incident marks one of several threats and swatting calls targeting Rep. Greene, who reported at least nine such incidents.

The Georgia State Patrol is leading the investigation into the crash, and federal agencies, including the FBI, are investigating the origins of the bomb threat email.

On 12/05/2024, at approximately 1:05 a.m., a Greyhound bus traveling south on Interstate 75 near Cleveland Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia, made an unscheduled stop after a passenger, identified as 39-year-old Robert McVay from Maryland, allegedly stabbed another passenger, causing a non-life-threatening injury.
McVay exited the bus on foot and fled across the interstate. Officers pursued him and issued commands for him to stop, which he ignored. Police fired tasers, stun guns, and pepper spray at him. During these actions, he allegedly turned toward officers with a knife in hand. Five officers opened fire, striking him.
He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
