Walker II shot and wounded one of the detectives. The detectives retreated, and Walker barricaded himself inside the residence with his two-week-old infant. Negotiations continued for approximately seven hours without success. Around 2 a.m. on November 6, a fire erupted in the apartment building. Walker fled the building holding the infant and fired several rounds at officers, striking a BearCat vehicle. In response, three MOCERT officers returned fire, fatally wounding Walker, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The infant was unharmed.
