OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On April 13, 2021, a stolen vehicle pursued by Toms River police crashed into a tree in the 1300 block of Old Freehold Road. The crash killed both occupants — a 14-year-old boy who was driving and a 14-year-old girl riding as passenger. The car caught fire following the impact, and both teenagers were pronounced dead at the scene. The Toms River Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the incident.
