Police came upon a man and woman at Forest Road 400 after a report of domestic violence. Cibola county deputies stated that a woman fled and later told them that Albert Morgan had choked her. When officers tried to talk to Morgan, he was hostile and pulled a gun, eventually aiming it at police who shot and killed him.

A Bernalillo deputy allegedly tried to stop a vehicle that was driving erratically. The vehicle did not stop and the officer escalated a chase. The deputy allegedly hit the rear of the fleeing vehicle, catapulting it into a wall, killing the driver. Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office and Albuquerque Police Department had a public argument, each other of inaccuracies in reporting how this fatal crash actually happened.

On June 25, 2024, Otero County Sheriff's Deputy Jacob Diaz-Austin responded to a welfare check regarding a male subject walking on the median of U.S. Highway 70 near mile marker 240. The individual, identified as 17-year-old Elijah Hadley, was carrying an object that appeared to be a firearm, later determined to be an airsoft pistol. Body camera footage reveals that upon the deputy's arrival, Hadley discarded the airsoft pistol. Despite this, Deputy Diaz-Austin fired multiple shots, striking Hadley.

On January 13, 2025, Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman filed first and second-degree murder charges against Deputy Jacob Diaz-Austin for the shooting death of Elijah Hadley. Following the filing of charges, the Otero County Sheriff's Office placed Deputy Diaz-Austin on administrative leave.

Police spotted a stolen vehicle and escalated a chase, placed spike strips that caused a man and woman to flee from the vehicle and continue in a truck. Police chased them to 98th and I-40 where the man held the woman hostage. After a one-hour standoff, a police sniper killed him. It turned out that the gun was only a BB gun and Meador had been unarmed.

Officer Zachary Herbst who killed Dale Meador had also previously killed Emmanuel Campos, 20, on August 16, 2023.

A Dona Ana County deputy was called on a call for an unknown person on Oasis drive. The deputy realized the man had an open warrant and tried to arrest him. The man resisted and the deputy allegedly tasered him, causing him to seize up. The man took the taser away from the attacking deputy. The deputy then shot and killed him.

Syracuse PD and Onondaga deputies chased a driver for failed traffic stop. The officers tracked the car and caught up with it in front of a home. They approached the car and 2 officers were shot and killed. The man whom they had engaged in a shootout with was also shot and killed.

Albuquerque PD tried to arrest a man for open warrants in the Walmart parking lot at 2266 Wyoming Boulevard NE. The man reportedly pushed past an officer with a rifle and tried to get in the store past them. Police engaged him in a physical altercation. The man grabbed the AR-15 and wrestled with the officer over control, discharging several rounds at Walmart. He was shot and killed by police.

Torrance County deputies received a call that an adult female was in a trailer where she had been abused. When deputies arrived, they pressured him with “announcements” to come out.
