On April 11, 2021, officers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Findlay Police Department initiated a high-speed pursuit of a vehicle driven by Trevor Clark, 22, following a domestic violence incident in North Baltimore, Ohio. The officers escalated the situation into a high-speed pursuit through Findlay, during which Clark turned off his headlights and reached speeds of 95 mph on surface roads. The pursuit was terminated after Clark gained distance and officers lost contact with the vehicle. Later that day, tire tracks leading into a retention pond near the 500 block of Marathon Blvd. were discovered. Divers located Clark's vehicle submerged 105 feet from shore at a depth of 23 feet. Clark was found inside the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

On March 24, 2021, U.S. Marshals and other law enforcement officers arrived at a residence in the 1700 block of Regent Avenue NE in Canton, Ohio, to apprehend 33-year-old Aaron Pierre Thomas, who was wanted for armed robbery and aggravated assault in Danville, Virginia.

Thomas allegedly attempted to escape through a window before exiting the front door and opening fire on the officers. During the exchange, a U.S. Marshal was injured. Officers opened fire, striking Thomas. Both the injured officer and Thomas were transported to a nearby hospital. The officer was treated and released, while Thomas remained hospitalized in critical condition.

The incident was investigated by the Stark County Prosecutor's Office, which presented the case to a grand jury. The grand jury declined to indict the officers involved. Approximately six months later, Thomas died from his injuries sustained during the shooting.

On March 21, 2021, around 6 p.m., a trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol spotted a speeding 2018 Porsche Macan on Interstate 275. The officer activated lights and sirens, initiating a pursuit. The chase lasted about a minute and a half before the driver, 14-year-old Alexander Lara, lost control of the vehicle.

On February 5, 2021, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Trotwood Police officers responded to a theft report at the Speedway convenience store located at 5000 Olive Road where Andrew Hogan, 25, had allegedly stolen a 2-liter non-alcoholic beverage and was observed walking towards a nearby apartment complex.

Officers located Hogan near the Kensington apartment complex, where he reportedly refused commands. Police engaged him in an altercation, deployed a Taser, pepper spray, and a baton, but Hogan ran into an apartment in the 700 block of Kelford Place.

While officers awaited additional units, Hogan emerged from the apartment with a knife and allegedly lunged at Officer Michael Molchan Jr., who then opened fire, fatally wounding Hogan.

A Montgomery County grand jury reviewed the incident and declined to indict Officer Molchan, determining that he acted lawfully under the circumstances.

On January 25, 2021, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Columbus police received reports of a man firing shots at vehicles in the parking lot of a Kroger store located at 5800 West Broad Street. The man, later identified as Jordan Garrett Suydam, 26, was reportedly driving a maroon 2007 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Shortly thereafter, additional reports indicated that Suydam had fired shots at individuals near Westgate Park and at a woman walking her dog.

At approximately 12:25 p.m., Franklin Township officers spotted Suydam’s vehicle near Frank Road and Harrisburg Pike. A pursuit ensued, with speeds reaching up to 100 mph and Suydam running multiple red lights. The chase continued until officers temporarily lost sight of the vehicle.

Officers then observed smoke emanating from an area near Phillipi Road and Fisher Road. Upon arrival, they found the vehicle overturned and engulfed in flames. Suydam was inside the vehicle, armed with a long-barreled shotgun. As the fire intensified, ammunition inside the vehicle began to explode, preventing officers from safely approaching. Once the fire was extinguished, Suydam was found deceased inside the vehicle.

Investigations revealed that Suydam was a person of interest in the homicide of his father, Arthur Suydam III, earlier that day in McComb, Ohio.

On January 18, 2021, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Toledo Police officers approached Christopher A. Harris, 27, outside a residence in the 2200 block of Fulton Street. Mr. Harris was a man in the vandalism and arson of the Rosary Cathedral earlier that day. Upon noticing the officers, he held a firearm and retreated into his home. Police initiated a standoff. Officers deployed tear gas into the residence. Subsequently, Mr. Harris exited the house with two firearms and fired multiple shots, fatally striking Officer Brandon Stalker, 24, in the head. In response, officers returned fire, killing Mr. Harris.

On January 11, 2021, at approximately 5:16 p.m., Butler County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic violence report in the 6800 block of Yoakum Court at the Lakota Pointe Townhomes in Liberty Township. Junius Thomas, had allegedly kicked in the door of a residence, prompting the female occupant to flee and call 911. Upon arrival, deputies found Thomas armed and "extremely agitated." THE SWAT team was deployed. SWAT officers used an armored vehicle to breach the door. Thomas then appeared in the doorway and raised a gun toward the officers, at which point Deputy Ricky Phillips shot and killed Thomas. A subsequent autopsy revealed the presence of methamphetamine in Thomas's system. Four months later, Officer Phillips shot and injured someone during arrest again. A Butler County grand jury reviewed both incidents and declined to issue an indictment, determining that the use of force was justified.

On January 5, 2021, at approximately 10:22 a.m., East Cleveland police officers initiated a pursuit of a vehicle believed to be stolen, occupied by three individuals. The chase ended near 16005 Terrace Road when the vehicle collided with multiple objects and caught fire. The occupants exited the vehicle; the driver, identified as Vincent Belmonte, fled on foot. During the pursuit, officers allege that Belmonte produced a gun. Police opened fire and killed him. Belmonte's family disputes the police's account, asserting that he was unarmed and posed no threat. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is conducting an independent investigation into the incident.

After approximately nine hours and multiple exchanges of gunfire, officers heard a single gunshot from inside the residence.
