On April 4, 2025, a man involved in a crash on the Ohio Turnpike attacked an Ohio trooper during a struggle and stole a police cruiser. Troopers chased him into Pennsylvania. The man crashed and flipped the stolen cruiser on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Beaver Falls. Officers opened fire and killed him. His identity has not been released. The eastbound turnpike lanes were shut down between New Castle and Cranberry exits.

The pursuit ended near North Broadway and Tribe Lane in Wind Gap Borough when the vehicle became disabled. An armed confrontation ensued, during which the man shot himself, and a Forks Township officer also fired their weapon. He was transported to Saint Luke’s Anderson Campus, where he was pronounced dead.

On 02/22/2025, 49-year-old Diogenes Archangel-Ortiz entered the Intensive Care Unit of UPMC Memorial Hospital at 1701 Innovation Dr., York, Pennsylvania, armed with a handgun and carrying zip ties. He took several staff members hostage, binding one female staff member's hands. Upon arrival, officers from the West York Borough Police Department engaged Archangel-Ortiz. During the confrontation, Archangel-Ortiz shot and killed Officer Andrew Duarte and wounded two other officers. Three hospital staff members—a doctor, a nurse, and a custodian—were also injured by gunfire. Officers subsequently shot and killed Archangel-Ortiz. On 12/10/2024, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Santiago Gutierrez, 29, was fatally shot by police during an incident on Cameron Street. While seated in the driver's seat, Sweeney opened fire with his personally owned gun multiple times, striking Jones. The Philadelphia Police Department's Officer Involved Shooting Investigations Unit (OISI), Internal Affairs, and the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office are conducting investigations into the incident. Megan Saunders, 29, was killed and Devon Elias, 31, died by suicide under police duress.

Earl Township Police Department initiated a vehicle pursuit of David Pacoe for refusing a traffic stop. The chase ended when the vehicle crashed on North Railroad Avenue and Grist Mill Road, resulting in Pacoe’s death. The crash occurred during the pursuit, which was likely at high speed. The driver, David Pacoe, was reported to be a retired police officer, known to have PTSD. Gary Lee McCartney had allegedly gotten into an argument with a neighbor and pointed a gun. Police were called and arrived, saw him point gun through his window and brought the special emergency response team SERT. Officers surrounded the trailer and when they spotted him with a gun, they shot and killed him.
