On March 6, 2025, at approximately 11:15 a.m., officers from the Abington Township Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance at the Rosemore Gardens Apartments in Glenside, Pennsylvania. An 11-year-old girl reported that her mother's boyfriend, Wyleek Tinsley, had fired a gun inside the apartment. Upon arrival, officers heard a woman screaming and a subsequent gunshot, prompting them to forcibly enter the apartment. Inside, they encountered Tinsley holding an object, later identified as a cellphone, in a darkened hallway. Believing he posed an immediate threat, two officers discharged their weapons, striking Tinsley. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office conducted an investigation and concluded that the officers' use of force was lawful, citing the perceived threat to the woman's safety and the officers' own.
