Florence County Deputy Treyvon Sellers chased William Rankin by vehicle until Rankin crashed into a tree. Rankin ran into a nearby home. Officer Sellers followed, unleashed his K9 that also ran into the house and attacked the surprised homeowner, 72-year-old Johnny Cooper who was in his home on an oxygen tank, while Deputy Sellers fired 5 shots into the unarmed Rankin seeking refuge in the home.
Officer Sellers was fired the following month, not for this incident but a new domestic violence event instead. He was charged with voluntary manslaughter in the death of Rankin. The condition of the homeowner attacked in his home by the police dog is unknown. He had been mauled for 87 seconds in his home. Mr. Cooper is allegedly permanently disfigured from the dog attack.
Deputy Sellers was charged with manslaughter in August of 2024.

Off-duty Summerville officer Anthony DeLustro was involved in a fight which began as verbal argument in the Chik-Fil-A parking lot with Michael O’Neal. The argument escalated into a physical brawl initiated by DeLustro who was both described and also filmed by bystanders to be the main aggressor. O’Neal attempted to defend himself and then entered his vehicle and was seen trying to escape from the attack. At that point, the wife of Officer DeLustro grabbed, subdued and restrained O’Neal to prevent him from driving away from the confrontation. DeLustro is seen entering the vehicle of O’Neal and shooting and killing him point blank. O’Neal was the son of a decorated North Carolina retired officer and grandson of the respective police chief of Winston-Salem. DeLustro stated that he identified himself as police and presented his badge, O’Neal’s family emphatically denies this story could be true, stating that O’Neal came from a law enforcement family and would not fight police. There is sufficient video and eyewitness evidence suggesting that DeLustro was the main aggressor and O’Neal was unarmed, retreating and attempting to avoid the confrontation while he was murdered by the officer who had forced himself into his vehicle. Officer Anthony DeLustro, a former NYPD cop who left NYPD for unknown reasons and became Officer DeLustro in small-town Summerville PD, was fired and arrested and charged for the murder. He is currently held without bail awaiting what the Solicitor General promises will be a trial in the near future. Updates to this case will be posted as they become available.

On the night of February 15, 2024, a Rock Hill Police Department officer initiated a traffic stop on a Dodge Challenger for defective lights as the vehicle turned left onto Harper Gault Road from Saluda Road. Upon activation of the patrol vehicle's blue lights, the driver, later identified as Tyland Archer, did not stop. As the officer approached the intersection of Harper Gault and Oakdale roads, the Challenger was found wrecked in the wood line. The vehicle had collided with a tree, resulting in significant damage. The passenger, Justin Villanueva, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Tyland Archer was entrapped within the vehicle and was later transported to an area medical center, where he was pronounced dead. Subsequent investigation revealed that the Dodge Challenger had been reported stolen from another jurisdiction. The South Carolina Highway Patrol's Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) was notified to conduct an independent investigation of the wreck. The Rock Hill Police Department's Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team also responded to investigate for internal review.

Somerville PD traffic stopped John Baldwin for a brake light violation. It is unknown what transpired, but he allegedly flew into a rage and rammed the police vehicle with a K9 inside, then fled to a home and locked himself in. Police and SWAT arrived and standoff and sued. Extensive gunfire from a shootout with police as heard on dash cam video. The house quickly interrupted in flames and was totally destroyed. Baldwin was found dead from gunshot wounds inside.
