On March 31, 2025, Arkansas State Police engaged in a high-speed pursuit of a vehicle driven by a Black male on Interstate 55 in Memphis. During the chase, a trooper performed a tactical vehicle intervention (TVI), also known as a PIT maneuver. The vehicle spun out and crashed. The man was killed as a result. This was the second fatal TVI by Arkansas State Police in the same week.

John Bruce Martinez, 19, was driving over 120 mph when North Little Rock Police and Arkansas State Police initiated a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 40. Around the 145-mile marker, Martinez reached speeds of 130 mph before losing control near the Morgan/Maumelle Exit. His vehicle ran off the road and crashed into several trees. He was killed on impact. Three 17-year-old passengers from Mabelvale were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Arkansas State Police chased a white Dodge Ram after the driver, Torkilo Hambrick, failed to stop for a traffic violation near mile marker 173. Police escalated the chase along Interstate 40 at speeds exceeding 120 miles per hour. Near mile marker 191, an Arkansas State Police trooper conducted a PIT maneuver—a tactic known to be potentially lethal at speeds above 35 mph—causing the truck to overturn and crash. Laterrika Woods, the 29-year-old sister of Memphis rapper Big Boogie, was a passenger in the vehicle. She was ejected during the crash and died at the scene. Two other passengers were seriously injured. Experts have long warned that PIT maneuvers at speeds above 35 mph carry an extreme risk of fatality, and at 100+ mph, the probability of a deadly outcome is considered astronomically high.

On March 24, 2025, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Eastern Arkansas Fugitive Task Force attempted to apprehend 23-year-old Willie Joe Larry-Purdiman, who was wanted for failing to appear on weapons charges. Upon locating him in a vehicle near the 7900 block of Baseline Road in Little Rock, Larry-Purdiman exited the vehicle and fled on foot toward a nearby gas station. During the pursuit, he fired multiple shots at officers. Officers returned fire, striking Larry-Purdiman. He was pronounced dead. One officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and released from the hospital. No civilians were injured. The Arkansas State Police is investigating.

On January 1, 2025, Little Rock Police Department officers responded to an assault report in the 2100 block of South State Street in Little Rock, Arkansas. Upon arrival, they discovered a vehicle had crashed into a residence, causing a gas leak. Inside the home, officers found 64-year-old Mary Ann Hansen deceased from stab wounds and another woman with multiple stab injuries; the latter was transported to a hospital in serious but stable condition. Subsequently, officers located 43-year-old Sidney Glasper, covered in blood, walking on South Broadway Street. Glasper, identified as the son of the surviving stabbing victim, held an unspecified weapon and walked toward officers Jesse Hurtado and Zachary Nelson. Officers Jesse Hurtado and Officer Zachary Nelson opened fire, killing him. Only Sidney Glasper is listed in this database as the other homicide occurred prior to police involvement.

On 07/25/2024, Arkansas State Police responded to reports of a standoff at a mobile RV home on E Walnut St in DeValls Bluff. The individual, Darrell Lawayne Esau II, allegedly barricaded himself inside the residence after police arrived to arrest him for unspecified charges. During the ensuing four-hour standoff, Esau fired at least 169 rounds at officers. Despite unknown tactical measures undertaken by law enforcement, police ultimately shot and killed Esau. The investigation is being led by the Arkansas State Police.

On April 6, 2024, police responded to a report of an individual who crashed his SUV into a massage parlor at the Lewis Crossing Shopping Center in Conway, Arkansas. The man barricaded himself inside a business at the shopping center, armed with a firearm. The Conway Police Department, including a SWAT team, responded to the scene. During negotiations, the individual fired shots at officers. Police returned fire, striking the man. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Officers responded to a call about a disturbance between a father and son. The son, identified as Joseph McCrackin, was reportedly armed with a knife and threatening others. Officer Hobbs confronted McCrackin, and a physical altercation ensued. McCrackin was shot by Officer Hobbs after the altercation. Emergency services attempted to provide first aid, but McCrackin was pronounced dead at the scene. Officer Hobbs sustained face and head injuries but was later released from the hospital. Arkansas State Police are investigating the incident.

On 01/07/2024, Forrest City Police Department (FCPD) initiated a high-speed pursuit of a vehicle driven by Dillion J. Scrivner on Interstate 40 East in Arkansas. The vehicle reached speeds exceeding 100 mph. The pursuit was later lost, but Arkansas State Police (ASP) located the vehicle traveling west on U.S. Highway 64 in Wynne. Upon attempting a traffic stop, the driver briefly pulled over before fleeing again. Spike strips were deployed, which stopped the vehicle near Arkansas Highway 193. Scrivner exited the vehicle and fled on foot, while the passenger was apprehended without incident.

A child later found Scrivner inside a parked vehicle at a nearby home. Upon being found, Scrivner fled on foot again, and assistance from an ASP K-9 unit and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission was requested. He was found in a nearby field with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Troopers rendered aid until emergency personnel arrived. Scrivner was transported to St. Bernards CrossRidge Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:21 p.m. His remains were sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

Arkansas Police allege that Clark was driving recklessly on the highway when they fatally attacked him with a PIT maneuver. He crashed and died. He had been driving 120 mph when police escalated the chase. PIT maneuvers are considered life-threatening above 35 mph and it is unknown why police chased him and made the decision to use this fatal attack when he did not stop.

Sherwood PD and Michigan State Police chased Andrew Muggs and escalated the chase to above 100 mph, rammed his vehicle, causing it to crash. He died at the 17th mile marker of Highway 67 as a result of a PIT maneuver during the police chase.

He returned fire, killing both occupants of the vehicle identified as 27-year-old Terrence Marquise and 18-year-old John H. Taylor.
