On February 17, 2021, around 8:40 p.m., two Houston police officers saw a black pickup truck speeding and followed it to a parking lot next to a taco truck on Little York Road. The driver exited the vehicle, pulled out a pistol, and robbed the taco truck. Both officers ordered him to drop the weapon. When he did not comply, both officers opened fire and killed him.

On February 16, 2021, around 9:20 p.m., Port of Seattle officers contacted the Seattle Police Department regarding Derek J. Hayden, a man in mental health crisis with a kitchen knife. When officers arrived, Hayden fled down Alaskan Way. PSPD officers attempted to de-escalate the situation by following Hayden. They also employed a less-lethal 40mm launcher that fires foam-tipped projectiles, but this method was unsuccessful in subduing him. SPD officers, including Officers Cassidy Butler and Willard Jared, arrived. Both officers discharged their firearms, killing Hayden.

Deputies reported that Bruce Diehl was barricaded inside the home and fired multiple rounds from within. On February 14, 2021, at approximately 3:30 a.m., off-duty Corbin Police Department Sgt. Stephen Meadors was contacted at his residence on Dogwood Cove in Corbin, Kentucky, by a neighbor reporting a prowler. Sgt. Meadors went outside and encountered 19-year-old Phillip N. Davenport. An altercation ensued, during which Sgt. Meadors opened fire, killing Davenport. Davenport was transported to Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, where he was pronounced deceased by the Whitley County Coroner. The Kentucky State Police investigated the incident. In October 2021, a Whitley County grand jury returned a "no true bill," clearing Sgt. Meadors of any wrongdoing.

On February 11, 2021, Alexis Leigh Davis-Gooden, 35, was initially stopped by a Menands Police Department officer on Broadway in Menands, New York. On February 9, 2021, around 9:15 p.m., Seattle Police officers responded to reports of a shooting near 24th Avenue South and South Massachusetts Street. Upon arrival, officers heard multiple gunshots being fired. Gregory Taylor emerged from around the corner of the parking lot of the Northwest African American Museum, raised his firearm, and began shooting at the officers. Police shot and killed him during the confrontation.

On February 8, 2021, Jonathan O'quin entered Hillcom and fired multiple rounds, killing Kenny Hill in his apartment above the business. A deputy pursued O'quin for about three miles before O'quin turned onto Bartlick Road. O'quin stopped at Bartlick Bridge, got out of the vehicle, and fired multiple rounds at the deputy. The deputy returned fire but did not hit him. O'quin then fatally shot himself in the head with a high-powered rifle.

On 02/08/2021, at approximately 1 a.m., officers from the Detroit Police Department were responding to a request for backup with their lights and sirens activated in a marked Ford Explorer traveling east on Jeffries Service Drive. The police vehicle collided with a Lexus IS 250 driven by Clifford Woodards II at the intersection of Jeffries Service Drive and W. Chicago in Detroit, killing bystander Woordards. The officer driving, TeairaFunderburg, was later charged with involuntary manslaughter and willful neglect of duty following the investigation, which revealed she was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at a red light. Woodards, a prominent defense attorney and civil rights activist, was known for his sharp wit and community involvement. His daughter, Melissa Connelly, filed a $50 million lawsuit against the city of Detroit, alleging negligence and seeking justice for her father's death. The lawsuit highlighted that Funderburg had a history of speeding and traffic violations. Woodards was driving lawfully at the time of the crash, within the speed limit and with the right of way. The impact caused Woodards' vehicle to flip over and crash into a light pole. Officer Funderburgwas suspended without pay.In August 2022, Funderburg pleaded no contest to willful neglect of duty as part of a plea agreement, leading to the dismissal of the involuntary manslaughter charge. As a condition of the plea, she agreed to resign her Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) certification, effectively ending her career as a police officer. She was sentenced to one year of probation and 100 hours of community service.
