A 4-year-old boy was killed in June 2023 after D'Quinn Tyrek Butler led Florida Highway Patrol on a high-speed chase on Interstate 10. Butler refused to stop near mile marker 62 and was chased at speeds over 110 mph before crashing near mile marker 86 when his Dodge Charger crossed into westbound lanes and was hit by a semi-truck. The boy, seated in a booster seat, was pronounced dead at the scene.
