On March 24, 2024, at approximately 7:25 p.m., deputies from the Industry Sheriff's Station responded to a family disturbance call on the 300 block of Clintwood Avenue in La Puente. The foster parents of 17-year-old Johanna Gonzalez reported she was experiencing a mental health crisis. Upon arrival, deputies found that Johanna had left the residence on foot. Approximately 15 minutes later, Johanna arrived at the Industry Sheriff's Station, located about a mile from her foster home. She knocked on the station's door, and when a deputy opened it, an altercation ensued during which Johanna managed to remove the deputy's firearm from its holster. She then used the weapon to inflict a fatal gunshot wound upon herself.
