OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 03/18/2024, Macomb Police responded to a domestic violence call at the 900 block of North Charles Street. Upon arrival, officers observed 57-year-old Anthony T. George armed with two knives. George retreated into a room and emerged holding 4-year-old Terrell T. Miller and holding a knife.

An officer discharged a firearm, fatally wounding both George and Miller. The child was struck and killed during the exchange.

The mother of Terrell Miller stated that when her son was born, a police officer told her, “I can’t wait to arrest your son,” revealing a cruel level of bias. She also engaged with Black Lives Matter while her son was alive, raising concerns about the treatment of Black individuals by the police.

The incident is under investigation by the Macomb Police Department. The identities of the officers involved have not been disclosed. The officers were cleared.
