OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On May 10, 2024, Mount Zion Police officers attempted to stop a silver Lexus IS on Bowdon Junction Road in Carroll County, Georgia. The driver did not stop. Police initiated a high-speed pursuit. The Lexus failed to navigate a curve, crossing into the opposite lane and veering off the roadway. The vehicle collided with a utility pole and a boulder, igniting upon impact and overturning. The driver was partially ejected, and all three occupants suffered fatal injuries. Due to severe burns, immediate identification was not possible. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the incident.
