OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On March 6, 2024, at approximately 11:27 p.m., Broward County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to reports of a shooting at the Broward County Transit Depot in Pompano Beach, Florida. Upon arrival, deputies encountered 59-year-old Rafael A. Molina, a transit employee, who had just fatally shot his coworker, 42-year-old Warren H. Chambers. Molina fired approximately six shots at the responding deputies. In response, Sergeant Noel Mercado, Deputy Joseph Sherbo, and Deputy Richard Delgaudio opened fire, discharging a total of 49 rounds, which resulted in Molina's death at the scene.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is investigating the incident, as is standard protocol for officer-involved shootings. Per agency policy, the involved deputies have been placed on administrative assignment pending the outcome of the investigation.
