On 06/23/2024, Chicago Police officers spotted David Curry, who they believed was involved in a previous incident where a woman was struck with a gun. Officers initiated a foot chase after identifying Curry. According to police, Curry stopped abruptly during the chase, and officers allegedly ran into him, causing him to fall. However, bodycam footage released by the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) contradicts this account. The footage shows an officer violently shoving Curry to the ground, resulting in his head striking the pavement.
