On June 22, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Officer Mason Wills of the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Hurd Street and John Street in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The vehicle, a red car, was occupied by multiple individuals, including 22-year-old passenger Linzell Parhm.

Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Wills observed Parhm in the front passenger seat. Body camera footage reveals that Officer Wills instructed Parhm to place his hands on the dashboard. Parhm initially complied but then removed his hands from the dashboard and reached downward. Officer Wills opened fire, striking Parhm.

Parhm was later pronounced dead at the hospital. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a 7.62mm Draco AK pistol with a 30-round magazine on the passenger-side floorboard.
