On June 19, 2024, in Pueblo, Colorado, officers responded to a call about a man with a gun at a Popeyes restaurant. Upon arrival, they found 34-year-old Ronald Ray Valdez in a vehicle. Police attempted to engage him, but Valdez refused to show his hands and police allege that he began shooting at officers. Police shot and killed him.
