Pedro Lopez, 51, was crossing the street at Capital Boulevard near Calvary Drive where he worked at Popeye’s Chicken when he was run over and killed by a Raleigh PD cruiser. Police publicly blamed him for his death for “not being inside the crosswalk” but did not say how fast the officer was driving and if speed was warranted by the call they were on.

Ricky Cobb II was pulled over by a Minnesota State trooper for having defective brake lights. Per official police narrative, he was pulled over and warrants for his arrest were found. Troopers allege that he reversed the car and reached for something, causing trooper Londegran to shoot and kill him. It was later discovered that he had no warrants which also means that troopers had no reason to try to physically tear him out of his car as they tried, leading to a confrontation that caused his death.

Police were called to an RT Blue Line train in Sacramento near the City College where a man was allegedly carrying a large knife. Police allege that the man lunged at them with the knife and they shot and killed him. He is seen in the linked BWC to plead with officers, telling them he is “scared of you” while holding the knife as they approached. He appears to be in mental health crisis. Police pointed long rifles at him, escalating his fear and pleading. Police fired beanbags at the frantic man. As he stood up and ran toward one group of officers, they shot and killed him.

Philadelphia PD tried to stop an erratic driver and took up chase. The car fled down a wrong way street and then the driver exited, allegedly holding a knife and according to police, lunged at them with knives. They shot him six times and killed him.

On 08/16/2023, Philadelphia PD chief Danielle Outlaw held a press conference, admitting that there had been “discrepancies” in the initial narrative and explained that officers chased Irizzary, he stopped, stayed in the car seated without issues while 2 officers shot up the car, hitting him numerous times. He had not been armed with any weapons but Outlaw still maintains that there were “2 knives” somewhere in the car but not being used. According to the family’s attorney, there was a pocket knife in the car. Mr. Irizzary was apparently executed in his car during a traffic stop without serious provocation on his part. The officer was booked on 09/08/2023 and is charged with homicide.

Muskegon PD were investigating a “shots fired” call as part of a domestic violence call. The man had left the home and was found several hours later near Apple Avenue and Creston Street. An off-duty officer spotted the vehicle but he fled. Several cruisers from 2 different law enforcement agencies began chasing him until the car drove into the ditch. Police tried to arrest the man but he fired a shot at them, inuring Deputy Hankins. Police riddled the vehicle with bullets. Over 2 dozen police vehicles were seen at the scene.

According to Michigan State Police, some sort of armed standoff occurred between police and a 58-year-old man who was shot and killed at a residence in the 2000 block of Fairfax Street in Saginaw. One person believed to be a former police officer died Thursday following a barricaded subject situation in Summerville. The Summerville Police Department (SPD), SPD SWAT Team, and Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene. SPD got a call for a welfare check around 9:45 a.m.
When they approached the home, a gunshot was fired out the window. Police retreated. A woman who said she was the subject’s mother arrived shortly after 10:30 a.m. and assisted with trying to convince the subject to come out. The individual remained locked inside the home in the Nautical Isles at Hidden Palms subdivision as of 11:00 a.m. Officials deployed tear gas to try and get the subject out, but he did not comply. Shortly before 3:00 p.m., officials said that the subject committed suicide under police duress.

Mesquite PD officer tried to pull over a silver Honda Pilot on W. Scyene Road, near Gross Road but the driver did not stop. Police escalated a chase. The driver fled, striking multiple cars and stopped in a yard in the 1700 block of Carnation Drive. A teenager got out of the vehicle. Police claim he “started reaching into the vehicle” and the officer “thought” he was reaching for a weapon and shot and killed the boy.

On August 10, 2023, at about 11:20 p.m., Atlanta PD was dispatched to the intersection of Cunningham Place and Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard to investigate a traffic collision. A driver later identified as Johnny Hollman, age 62, of Atlanta, allegedly “became non-compliant” and the officer tried to arrest him. After a physical struggle, the officer used a Taser as Hollman continued to resist arrest. Police handcuffed him and realized he had died. He had been a local church deacon.
