On June 12, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers from the Albion Department of Public Safety observed a vehicle being driven recklessly on Superior Street near Walnut Street. The officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver, identified as 21-year-old Dominik Ashton Warner, accelerated and fled at high speed. The vehicle subsequently left the roadway and collided with a tree just south of Albion's city limits. Both Warner and his passenger, 18-year-old Ethan Alexander Newman, sustained fatal injuries in the crash.
