OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On June 6, 2024, a standoff in Columbia, Missouri, around 3:40 a.m. in the 5000 block of Clark Lane at The Links apartment complex, police responded to reports of shots fired. Police brought SWAT and a shootout ensued, with one of the police BearCat vehicles being struck. The man locked himself inside an apartment, prompting an eight-hour standoff.
During the standoff, Columbia Police Department (CPD) SWAT, along with a crisis negotiation team bore down on the increasing pressure. The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) provided additional military armored vehicles and assistance from its bomb squad. Finally the SWAT team made forced entry and discovered the man deceased from a gunshot wound.
