OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
Detective John C. Byrd, of the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office was involved in an argument with his wife and strangled and killed her. He locked her in the bedroom, left their 3 children alone in the home and drove away. When someone began missing his wife, police arrived and found her dead on the bedroom floor. They located Detective Byrd driving his wife’s vehicle and arrested him later.
Detective Byrd alleges that he “flipped a switch.” He was charged with second-degree murder.
