On 01/19/2025, Grand Junction police officers were alerted by hospital staff after an individual with life-threatening injuries reported being assaulted. Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of 28 Road in Grand Junction, Colorado. Upon arrival, the man inside the home refused to exit and fired a gun at the officers. One officer returned fire. SWAT teams from the city and county were deployed, and after several hours of unsuccessful communication attempts, they entered the residence and found the man deceased. The Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) has been activated to investigate the officer-involved shooting.

On 01/18/2025, at approximately 2:27 a.m., California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers initiated a pursuit of a motorcyclist traveling at high speed southbound on the 57 Freeway from the 210 Freeway. Overnight, deputies used a drone to deliver a cell phone and food to Hernandez, attempting to negotiate his surrender. Despite these efforts, Hernandez remained uncooperative. On January 15, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Hernandez fired at responding law enforcement officers. Police opened fire and killed him at the location. On January 13, 2025, deputies from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a call regarding a man experiencing a medical emergency. On January 13, 2025, deputies from the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting at a private residence in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Upon arrival, they discovered 84-year-old Joan Sorace deceased from a gunshot wound. Her husband, 87-year-old John Sorace, a former Nashville assistant police chief, was subsequently arrested and charged with reckless homicide in connection with her death.
