On 07/25/2024, a Killeen Police Department officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a defective headlight. According to police, 25-year-old Carlos Joseph Christian continued driving away, and officers initiated a pursuit.
The pursuit continued through Killeen until Christian's vehicle left the roadway near the intersection of Stagecoach Road and Bear River Trail. The vehicle crashed through several fences before coming to rest.
Christian was pronounced dead at the scene. No other motorists or pedestrians were injured.
