OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 07/23/2024, officers from the Kensington Police Department responded to a welfare check at a residence on Olivia Lane after family members reported that 29-year-old Anthony J. Previte was experiencing a mental health crisis and was armed with a handgun.
According to investigators, Previte remained outside the residence while officers attempted to negotiate with him for approximately two hours. Additional personnel from the Exeter Police Department and the New Hampshire State Police responded to assist.
Investigators stated that Previte eventually pointed a handgun toward officers. Six officers fired a total of 36 rounds, striking Previte. Officers rendered medical aid until emergency medical personnel arrived, but Previte was pronounced dead at the scene.
The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office investigated the shooting. In May 2025, Attorney General John M. Formella concluded that the use of deadly force by Sgt. James H. Connor, Officer John M. Conners, Officer Matthew Currier, Trooper First Class Andrew S. Monaco, Trooper First Class Daniel F. Lynch, and Trooper Nathaniel C. Perkins was legally justified under New Hampshire law.
