On 07/27/2024, Milwaukee Police Department officers attempted to stop a stolen Hyundai occupied by two juveniles in Milwaukee's south side. According to investigators, the driver accelerated away and police pursued through city streets.

On July 25, 2024, at approximately noon, a Saguache County Sheriff's Office deputy was driving near Crestone, Colorado, to serve legal papers. The deputy observed 40-year-old Jonathan Aaron Wood walking about a mile from the entrance of the Baca Grande Subdivision and recognized him as having active warrants, including a felony warrant in Saguache County for assault on a peace officer and a misdemeanor warrant in Mineral County for damaged property/criminal mischief.

The deputy attempted to contact Wood, who then attacked the deputy with a 4-foot metal pipe. In response, the deputy discharged his service weapon twice, striking Wood. When officers arrived, they encountered Napoles Ravelo behaving erratically while armed with a large kitchen knife. Officers attempted to communicate with him, including through family members because of a language barrier. According to investigators, officers repeatedly ordered him to drop the knife and deployed multiple less-lethal options, including 40 mm foam baton rounds and Tasers.
Police stated that Napoles Ravelo then advanced toward officers while still holding the knife. Multiple officers fired their weapons, striking him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Louisville Metro Police Department released body-worn camera footage of the incident on August 8, 2024. In 2025, the Louisville Office of Inspector General completed its review and concurred with the Professional Standards Unit's findings that the officers' use of force was exonerated. On 07/25/2024, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, which included Arkansas State Police personnel, went to a residence on E. Walnut Street in DeValls Bluff to arrest 32-year-old Darrell Lawayne Esau II on multiple outstanding felony warrants. According to investigators, Esau immediately opened fire on officers as they approached the residence.
Arkansas State Police activated its SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, Tactical Support Unit, and Air Support resources. Negotiators remained in contact with Esau for more than two hours in an effort to secure his surrender.
Investigators determined that Esau fired at least 169 rounds from six firearms, including fully automatic and high-powered rifles, during the approximately four-hour standoff. Police ultimately exchanged gunfire with Esau, who was fatally shot.
The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division investigated the shooting. On 07/24/2024, officers with the Salina Police Department went to 544 N. 12th Street to serve an arrest warrant on Larry J. Wray Jr. Officers arrested Larry Wray Jr. without incident in a detached garage on the property. During the arrest, officers encountered 25-year-old Jesse D. Wray inside the garage. According to investigators, Wray displayed a firearm and threatened to shoot officers if they entered.
Officers established a perimeter and requested the Salina Police Department SWAT Team and the Kansas Highway Patrol for assistance. While officers awaited additional resources, smoke and flames began coming from the garage. A woman exited the garage with her hands raised, followed by Wray, who moved behind a parked truck in the driveway.
Investigators stated that Wray assumed a shooting stance while pointing a firearm toward officers. Two Salina police officers fired nine rounds but did not strike him. Wray then moved to the west side of the garage, where a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper and a Salina police officer fired four rounds, fatally wounding him. Wray was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was evaluated at Salina Regional Health Center and later released.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation and presented its findings to the Saline County Attorney.
