Wray Jr. Upon entering the detached garage east of the residence, officers arrested Larry Wray Jr. without incident. During the arrest, officers noticed another individual, later identified as 25-year-old Jesse D. Wray, inside the garage. When officers attempted to make contact, Jesse Wray displayed a firearm and threatened to shoot if they entered.

Officers established a perimeter and summoned the Salina SWAT Team for assistance. Troopers from the Kansas Highway Patrol also responded to the location of the home. While awaiting the SWAT team's arrival, officers observed smoke and flames emanating from the garage. The garage door then opened, and a female emerged with her hands raised, followed by Jesse Wray. Wray took cover behind a parked truck in the driveway, assuming a shooting stance with his hands extended toward the officers.

On July 21, 2024, at approximately 12:41 p.m., Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) officers responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash at the intersection of Bryan Avenue and Mountain Avenue. The crash ended with Clayton Pierce standing outside the vehicle with a firearm.

Police engaged Pierce in a shootout, and he fled on foot into Grandview Cemetery. Officers pursued him into the cemetery, where another exchange of gunfire occurred. The Fort Collins Police Services Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit's armored rescue vehicle arrived on scene. Officers approached the injured Pierce and rendered aid. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The officer who was shot sustained a gunshot wound to his arm and was treated and released. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office is the lead investigating agency for the case.

On September 25, 2024, the Larimer County District Attorney's Office released the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) opinion letter, declaring that the officers' actions were justified.

On 07/21/2024, Pima County Sheriff’s deputies pursued a vehicle at high speeds in a case involving domestic violence, as the woman, Debra Murrieta, had been abducted by her boyfriend, William Holloway. During the chase, Murrieta jumped out of the moving vehicle and fell, dying from the impact. Holloway was apprehended later. The investigation is being led by the Pima County Sheriff’s Office.

Brandon Gaines, 30, allegedly ambushed an off-duty Homewood Police Department officer outside the officer's home as the officer was leaving for work. The officer was shot but survived in stable condition. Gaines fled the scene and was located in Moody, where police escalated a standoff. The standoff ended when Gaines died from suicide under police duress.

On 07/21/2024, Texarkana Arkansas Police Department (TAPD) initiated a pursuit of Michael W. Hollis II, a 29-year-old male motorcyclist. The chase ended when Hollis crashed his motorcycle at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Arkansas Boulevard, resulting in his death. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear, but it is known that it occurred during the police pursuit. The investigation is being led by the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department.

On July 20, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Biloxi Police Department officers responded to a call for service on Lakeview Boulevard in Biloxi, Mississippi. Upon arrival, officers encountered 42-year-old Jason Moore, who allegedly pointed a weapon toward them. Police opened fire, striking Moore. He was transported to a local hospital and died from his injuries.

Virginia Beach police were sent to a call involving Marques Hasbrouck who had stabbed three people inside of a home. When police arrived, he still held a knife. They shot and killed him. One person in the home had been stabbed to death by him previously and two others were injured. Police allege he had a crowbar and metal rod and chased him to a nearby house where they shot and killed him.

On July 20, 2024, officers A. Luu and T. Huynh of the Houston Police Department responded to an armed disturbance call at a gas station in the 3100 block of South Dairy Ashford. Upon arrival, they encountered a 27-year-old male who had fled on foot and was later found at the intersection of Westheimer and Dairy Ashford. As the individual fled, he dropped a knife from his backpack, picked it up, and continued running toward a nearby cemetery. Officers Luu and Huynh pursued him and gave repeated commands to drop the weapon. The individual allegedly charged at the officers, still holding the knife, and both officers opened fire, striking and killing him. Despite efforts to administer first aid, the male was pronounced deceased at Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital. The incident is being investigated by the Houston Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, the Internal Affairs Division, and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

On July 20, 2024, at approximately 7:22 p.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies were flagged down by civilians in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven store in the 7600 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood. The civilians reported an attempted robbery by a man, later identified as 33-year-old Cody Dodd-Thompson, who was fleeing the scene on foot. Deputies followed Dodd-Thompson and attempted to detain him near the 1100 block of Gardner Street. Dodd-Thompson did not comply, produced a knife, and ran south on Gardner Street. During the foot pursuit, Dodd-Thompson stopped running and turned toward one of the deputies while armed with a knife in his right hand. The officer shot him. Dodd-Thompson was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. A folding knife with an approximate four-inch blade was recovered at the scene.

A 69-year-old man crashed his SUV into a family vehicle at Beach Boulevard and I-295. After the crash, he exited the SUV holding a firearm and made suicidal statements. Officers from Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office surrounded him and cleared traffic. The man stood armed for 20 minutes, ignoring commands. When he turned with the gun toward a passing bicyclist, Officers Greg Hernandez and Zacharey Slatowski opened fire, striking him. He died at the hospital. JSO stated he had no known mental health history but had prior DUI charges and a revoked license. This was the 12th officer-involved shooting for JSO in 2024.

On 07/19/2024, deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic violence call at a home on Colony Oaks Lane near North Hiawassee Road in Pine Hills, Florida. Officers encountered Deshaun Albert Dunmyer, 31, inside the home. Police claimed Dunmyer used a toddler as a human shield during the confrontation. The SWAT team was called to the scene, and during the standoff, officers shot and killed Dunmyer. The child was unharmed and taken into custody.
