On July 23, 2024, Gregory Stevens, a 53-year-old man from Akron, Ohio, tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident during a police pursuit. The incident occurred in the 1400 block of Kenmore Boulevard. Stevens was fleeing from Barberton police at high speed when his motorcycle collided with a van. The impact ejected him from the motorcycle, causing both him and the vehicle to strike a parked tractor-trailer. The collision led to an explosion of the tractor's gas tank. Stevens was transported to Akron General Hospital, where he succumbed to blunt force trauma injuries to the head and torso.
