On 07/28/2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Deputy [Name Not Disclosed] and Dispatcher [Name Not Disclosed] of the Carroll County Sheriff's Department, both off-duty, reported discovering the body of 18-year-old Jackson Kradle along Illinois Route 78 and Lowden Road in Mount Carroll, Illinois.

The coroner's report stated that Kradle died from blunt trauma to the head, consistent with a motor vehicle-pedestrian crash. Subsequent investigations revealed that Kradle's DNA was found on the truck of the off-duty deputy, raising concerns about the circumstances of his death. Fort Lee PD were sent to assist in a mental health crisis. They allege that they found a "woman with a knife" after forcing entry into a home. Police shot and killed her in her home. The family strongly disputes the police narrative. Lee's brother states that the family answered the routine question dispatchers ask whether a person has access to weapons and the family said she has a small folding pocket knife. She was no longer holding it and was holding only a water bottle when killed, not threatening anyone with it when police arrived and shot her, according to the family.

On 07/28/2024, deputies from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance call at the RaceTrac gas station on the 9400 block of 108th Avenue in Vero Beach, Florida. Upon arrival, police encountered Jeffrey Lee Miller, 42, who was holding a knife. Police claimed Miller chased them while holding the knife, and officers shot and killed him. Miller died at the scene.

Greene County deputies allege that Willie Lovett arrived and broke into a home and fought deputies and they had to shoot and kill him. His son explained that his father had dementia, was a gentle person but that he had apparently wandered into a house that looked much like his own one street over when he was confronted and killed by police who mistook him for a burglar. Upon arrival, officers encountered a man with a rifle slung across his back standing outside a residence. The individual ignored police commands and retreated into the house. Police activated the SWAT team. As officers established a perimeter and attempted negotiations, they observed the house catching fire and heard additional gunshots from within. The Coeur d'Alene Fire Department arrived to find the structure fully engulfed in flames. After extinguishing the fire, detectives entered the residence and discovered one deceased individual inside. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed. The incident remains under investigation by local authorities.

Amherst Police arrived at 450 Mill Avenue to arrest a man for unknown reasons. Police described him as “armed and dangerous.” Police engaged the man in a shootout and called SWAT. A lengthy militarized siege on the home ensued. A neighbor described SWAT using what may have been an armored SWAT caterpillar or other heavy equipment to tear away several windows and much of the front of the house while the residents were inside. Police arrested several people in the home for harboring a fugitive. Miller who was wanted for allegedly firing at or trying to harm a police officer was found dead inside of the home after a lengthy war-like engagement with SWAT. It is not immediately clear whether SWAT shot him or he died from suicide under police duress.

On 07/27/2024, deputies from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office were called to investigate an alleged attempted carjacking in Satsuma, Florida. Witnesses reportedly identified Phillip Allen Baldwin, 31, as the person involved. Deputies located Baldwin and claimed he “reached for his waistband,” after which multiple officers fired their weapons and killed him. Baldwin died at the scene.

Deputies identified a likely vehicle and initiated a pursuit after the driver failed to comply with commands. During the chase, the fleeing vehicle veered onto the north shoulder of Central Avenue, west of Beardsley Road, and struck 58-year-old bicyclist Robert Eugene Pierret, who was returning home from his shift at St. John's Hospital Camarillo. Deputies immediately rendered aid, but Pierret succumbed to his injuries. The suspect continued fleeing and subsequently collided with another vehicle before being apprehended. On 07/26/2024, a male individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a police pursuit that began in Hemet, California, and ended near San Marcos in San Diego County. The incident started around midnight when the individual allegedly carjacked a 2023 Toyota Camry at gunpoint in Hemet. Murrieta police officers initially spotted the stolen vehicle and pursued it as the individual fled southbound on Interstate 15. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) assumed control of the pursuit as it proceeded through the Temecula Valley into San Diego County. Officers deployed spike strips near Gopher Canyon Road, deflating the vehicle's front tires. Despite the damage, the individual continued driving until the vehicle crashed near Deer Springs Road, where he then fatally shot himself. No officers or civilians were injured during the incident.

On July 25, 2024, at approximately noon, a Saguache County Sheriff's Office deputy was driving near Crestone, Colorado, to serve legal papers. The deputy observed 40-year-old Jonathan Aaron Wood walking about a mile from the entrance of the Baca Grande Subdivision and recognized him as having active warrants, including a felony warrant in Saguache County for assault on a peace officer and a misdemeanor warrant in Mineral County for damaged property/criminal mischief.

The deputy attempted to contact Wood, who then attacked the deputy with a 4-foot metal pipe. In response, the deputy discharged his service weapon twice, striking Wood. Despite immediate life-saving measures, Wood was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy sustained minor injuries, received treatment at a local hospital, and was later released.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is assisting the Saguache County Sheriff's Office in investigating the incident. Body-worn camera footage from the deputy, activated prior to the encounter, is under review by investigators. Following standard protocol, the deputy has been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.

At the time of the incident, Wood was wanted for a felony warrant related to an August 11, 2023, event where he allegedly acted erratically with a four-foot wooden stick, threatened deputies, and punched one in the head. While waiting for Sacramento Fire Department personnel to assess his condition, Dalehart became unresponsive. Despite emergency medical aid, he was pronounced dead at a hospital. On July 24, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers from the Salina Police Department arrived at 544 N. 12th Street in Salina, Kansas, to execute an arrest warrant for 44-year-old Larry J. Wray Jr. Upon entering the detached garage east of the residence, officers arrested Larry Wray Jr. without incident. During the arrest, officers noticed another individual, later identified as 25-year-old Jesse D. Wray, inside the garage. When officers attempted to make contact, Jesse Wray displayed a firearm and threatened to shoot if they entered.

Officers established a perimeter and summoned the Salina SWAT Team for assistance. Troopers from the Kansas Highway Patrol also responded to the location of the home. While awaiting the SWAT team's arrival, officers observed smoke and flames emanating from the garage. The garage door then opened, and a female emerged with her hands raised, followed by Jesse Wray. Wray took cover behind a parked truck in the driveway, assuming a shooting stance with his hands extended toward the officers.

In response, two Salina Police Department officers discharged nine rounds, none of which struck Wray. Wray then moved to the west side of the garage, where he encountered additional officers and troopers. A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper and a Salina Police Department officer fired four shots, fatally wounding Wray. He was pronounced deceased at the location at 8:45 p.m. The female was evaluated at Salina Regional Health Center and later released.
