OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On July 16, 2024, CBP Border Patrol engaged in a vehicle pursuit for unknown reasons. The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed on Interstate 10, near Rita Road, resulting in the death of one passenger, identified only as a Mexican national. The individual was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Another three individuals in the vehicle were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona is overseeing the investigation.
