Olathe PD allege that they arrived to a physical disturbance, found a man with an “edged weapon” and shot and killed Brandon Lynch. His mother stated that Lynch had suffered from schizophrenia, that this was well-known to police who had helped with it before, that they did not have to shoot him and did not deescalate the situation.
