OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On August 27, 2024, at approximately 9:40 a.m., Dodge County Sheriff's Deputy Adam Walker responded to a 911 call reporting pigs walking around the roadway near Dodge Avenue and Mt. Moriah Street in Eastman, Georgia. Upon arrival, Deputy Walker attempted to contact residents at a nearby home in the 5000 block of Dodge Avenue.

At this location, 58-year-old Kim Lawong Crocker confronted Deputy Walker at the corner of the property with a firearm. An exchange of gunfire ensued, during which Crocker shot Deputy Walker in the arm. In response, Deputy Walker returned fire, fatally wounding Crocker, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputy Walker was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injury. No BWC can be found confirming this narrative.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is conducting an independent investigation into the incident. Upon completion, the findings will be submitted to the Oconee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review. The GBI has requested that anyone with information regarding the case contact their Regional Investigative Office in Eastman.
