On August 27, 2024, Panama City Beach Police responded to a call about a man displaying erratic behavior, possibly under the influence. Officers chased the unarmed man to a storage facility. During the arrest, police deployed tasers. After handcuffing him, he became unresponsive. Officers administered Narcan and CPR, but he was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The cause of death is under investigation, with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) conducting the inquiry.
