On 08/27/2024, at approximately 12:42 a.m., Corbin Crick, 14, was killed when a pickup truck in which he was a passenger crashed outside Frankfort while a Frankfort Police Department officer was pursuing it.

The encounter began when a Frankfort police officer attempted to stop the pickup in the area of State Road 28 and Jackson Street. Police reported that the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when the officer attempted the traffic stop.

The driver continued driving away while the Frankfort officer pursued the truck westbound out of the city. The pursuit continued onto State Road 28 toward rural Clinton County.

During the pursuit, the driver lost control of the pickup near County Road 200 West. The truck left the roadway and crashed into a utility pole before rolling multiple times.

Corbin was a passenger in the pickup and was ejected during the crash. He died from his injuries. Another 14-year-old boy in the vehicle was critically injured and transported to an Indianapolis hospital.

Indiana State Police assumed responsibility for investigating the fatal crash and the circumstances surrounding the Frankfort police pursuit.

Corbin was born on 12/13/2009 in Frankfort and was a ninth-grade student at Clinton Central. He enjoyed playing football, fishing, video games, four-wheeling and spending time outdoors.

The tragedy was compounded later the same day when Corbin's father, Brian K. Crick, 56, was found dead at his home after authorities went there to notify him of his son's death. Authorities subsequently said Brian Crick's death was not related to the crash that killed Corbin.

Corbin and his father were buried following services held together on 08/31/2024. Corbin was survived by his sister, grandmother, aunts, uncle and extended family.
