On August 27, 2024, Frankfort Police Department officers pursued a fleeing vehicle that failed to stop for an attempted traffic stop on State Road 28. The pursuit continued eastbound at high speeds and onto County Road 250 East, where the vehicle left the road, rolled over multiple times, and crashed.

Passenger Corbin Crick, 14, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 14-year-old driver was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Frankfort Police Chief Scott Shoemaker requested an independent investigation by the Indiana State Police to review the cause and manner of the crash. When police went to the home of Corbin Crick, they found his father dead from unrelated causes, having died the same day.
