On April 3, 2025, around 1:42 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a stolen mail truck in Fort Mohave, Arizona. The driver, identified as 48-year-old Erick Tom Watkins, drove away with another person in a separate vehicle. The stolen vehicle was later found abandoned in Laughlin, Nevada. Watkins was seen near the Colorado River and, when approached, showed a gun and fled. He stole a boat, crossed into Bullhead City, and abandoned it near an apartment complex on Highway 95. At approximately 3:41 p.m., officers confronted him in a parking lot. Watkins opened fire, and officers returned fire, killing him. Watkins had multiple active felony warrants.

Shannon Graham, 35, was wanted for allegedly fatally shooting his girlfriend, Jessica Hoyle, 31, inside her Mickle Avenue home in the Bronx on April 1, 2025. Graham reportedly had ongoing arguments with Hoyle before shooting her. NYPD tracked Graham’s phone to a multi-family residence on Pratt Avenue. Officers from the Emergency Services Unit entered the building, finding Graham on a second-floor landing with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies responded to a rural property near Porter after reports that a man in mental health crisis pointed a rifle at his father. The man then barricaded himself inside a trailer. Officers from the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office and Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse Police surrounded the area and attempted hours of negotiations. The man did not comply. During the standoff, officers opened fire. He was taken to a hospital and later died. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation. The man was reportedly in possession of a firearm despite a prior felony record.

On April 2, 2025, around 9:00 p.m., 61-year-old Charles Briscoe was driving westbound on Fern Valley Road in Louisville, Kentucky. As he attempted to turn left into his apartment complex at Jeanine Drive, his vehicle was struck by a Louisville Metro Police Department cruiser driven by Alyssa Begel. Begel was responding to “an EMS call” in the Newburg area but did not have her emergency lights or sirens activated. Dashcam footage and witness statements indicate that Begel was speeding and weaving through traffic prior to the collision. The exact speed has not been disclosed, but LMPD confirmed she was exceeding the speed limit. Briscoe was pronounced dead at the scene. Begel has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of both criminal and administrative investigations.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., Logan County deputies responded to a domestic disturbance near Seward Road and Midwest Boulevard. The call involved a separated married couple. Deputies made contact with a woman at the home who briefly spoke with them before closing the door. A man, described as being in his early 40s, emerged from the back of the residence and opened fire on deputies, striking two. A third deputy returned fire and killed the man. The two injured deputies were taken to a hospital and are expected to recover.

Around 2:00 p.m., Deputy Will May responded to a disturbance call at the Dollar General on Highway 90 in Mossy Head. He made contact with a man inside the store. As they exited, the man pulled a gun and shot the deputy multiple times. Deputy May opened fire and killed him. The man was pronounced dead on scene. Deputy May was taken to North Okaloosa Medical Center and died at 7:10 p.m.

At approximately 10:48 a.m., Tallahassee Police responded to reports of an armed man experiencing a mental health crisis at a residence in the 1300 block of Raa Avenue. Family members were outside the home, and the man reportedly fired a shot behind the house. Police surrounded the area, evacuated nearby residents, and rerouted traffic on Old Bainbridge Road. Officers found the man in the backyard. The man shot and killed himself in front of police.

At approximately 10:25 p.m., Columbia County deputies responded to a call about a man passed out behind the wheel at Krystal's on 256 Bobby Jones Expressway. Deputies found Joseph Mobley, 47, with signs of drug use including burnt tinfoil on his lap. Mobley suddenly accelerated, and deputies escalated a chase. The pursuit went onto Interstate 520, down Windsor Spring Road, Rushing Road, and back onto I-520 eastbound. Richmond County deputies took over the chase, and a PIT maneuver near Mike Padgett Highway caused Mobley to crash into a guardrail. He was initially alert, but while trapped inside the vehicle, Mobley ingested drugs and became unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Georgia State Patrol is investigating.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., Baltimore County Police responded to a report of shots fired damaging a home on Gray Manor Terrace. When officers arrived, they were shot at from a nearby house. Police returned fire, backed off, and initiated a barricade. A woman inside the home was believed to be held against her will. Nearby residents were told to shelter in place and three schools were placed on lockout status. After hours of failed negotiations, police entered and found the man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The woman was found unharmed. No officers were injured.

Samuel Vaia, 33, was accused of shooting and killing his ex-wife, Ashley Vaia, inside her Deltona home. Deputies responded to the Parma Drive residence after Ashley’s child called 911 around 2:23 a.m. Vaia fled in a white SUV, and law enforcement tracked his vehicle northbound on Interstate 95 at over 100 mph. Flagler County deputies joined the chase, which ended when Vaia crashed at Palm Harbor Parkway and Hammock Dunes Parkway in Palm Coast. Deputies approached and found him with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to a hospital where he died. Vaia had been arrested on 03/23/2025 for battering Ashley but was released on bond the following day.

On March 31, 2025, Arkansas State Police engaged in a high-speed pursuit of a vehicle driven by Revail Murphy on Interstate 55 in Memphis. During the chase, a trooper performed a tactical vehicle intervention (TVI), also known as a PIT maneuver. The vehicle spun out and crashed. Murphy was killed as a result. Fred Eromosele Ehimen, 49, was driving a Toyota Camry on the ramp from westbound Interstate 70 to southbound U.S. 29 in Ellicott City when Maryland State Police chased a 17-year-old driving an allegedly stolen Ford Explorer onto the ramp going the wrong way and struck him head-on. Ehimen was pronounced dead at the crash site. Police had identified the Explorer as stolen and began a pursuit involving the Frederick County Sheriff's Office and the Howard County Police Department. Police allege they called off the chase before the crash occurred. The 17-year-old driver was flown to a trauma center, and two passengers, ages 13 and 16, were hospitalized with injuries.

On March 26, 2025, Broward Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment in the 3100 block of Hallandale Beach Boulevard. Inside, they found four victims killed by gunfire: Julie Cruz, 32; her 11-year-old son Xion Solomon; and 2-year-old twin sons Nova and Emery McKenzie. Her 8-year-old daughter Phiinyx Solomon was found wounded and hospitalized in critical condition. The shooter, identified as Stephen McKenzie, 34, was the estranged partner of Cruz and father of the twins. He was found at the scene with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition and died five days later on March 31. Family members said Cruz had tried to leave the relationship and had recently moved into the apartment.

Upon arrival, the officer encountered 36-year-old Kenneth Christopher Cook, who was reportedly stalking a woman with the knife. After a brief interaction, Cook retreated into his residence and emerged with a larger knife, approximately eight or nine inches in length, and charged at the officer. On March 29, 2025, at approximately 4:45 p.m., the Oxford County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call from an 80-year-old man reporting a domestic assault by his stepson, 51-year-old Eric Newell, at a residence on Tucker Road in Hartford. Deputies attempted to de-escalate the situation, but Newell exited the home and approached them with a knife. Deputies Reece Rodrique and Derek MacDonald opened fire, fatally wounding Newell. John Bruce Martinez, 19, was driving over 120 mph when North Little Rock Police and Arkansas State Police initiated a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 40. Around the 145-mile marker, Martinez reached speeds of 130 mph before losing control near the Morgan/Maumelle Exit. His vehicle ran off the road and crashed into several trees. He was killed on impact. Three 17-year-old passengers from Mabelvale were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Around 11:30 p.m., Pueblo Police received reports of a wrong-way driver on I-25 near Highway 50. Shortly after, Andrew Cuevas, 44, ran a red light at Dillon Drive and Cesar Chavez Boulevard, crashing into a BMW. Cuevas then attempted to carjack an off-duty Douglas County deputy. Witnesses and the deputy subdued him until officers arrived. Cuevas was reportedly under the influence of drugs and was taken into custody on charges including DUI and aggravated robbery. At the hospital for medical clearance and a blood draw, Cuevas became unresponsive and was pronounced dead. The Pueblo County Critical Incident Response Team is investigating.

On March 28, 2025, around 9:45 p.m., Cuyahoga County Sheriff's deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for erratic driving on East 9th Street in Cleveland. The driver, 24-year-old Nigel Wayne Perry, did not stop. Deputies escalated a pursuit onto Interstate 90. At the Eddy Road exit, Perry’s vehicle collided with a second vehicle. The impact caused the second car to fall off the bridge and catch fire. Perry's vehicle also caught fire, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The female driver of the other vehicle was ejected and transported to University Hospital. The case is under investigation.

Police responded to a domestic violence call on Holly Oak Street where a man had allegedly tried to run over a woman. The man drove off in a Nissan Altima. Around 2 a.m., officers spotted the vehicle westbound on I-20 and began a pursuit that ended near Sanger in Denton County. After stopping, the man did not respond to commands. A drone showed signs of medical distress. Officers approached, administered Narcan, and transported him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Narcotics were found in the vehicle. The man’s name has not been released pending next-of-kin notification.

Marin County Sheriff's deputies attempted to stop a driver for reckless driving in San Rafael. The driver refused to stop.
