On 08/23/2024, Richard Phillip Randall Jr., 41, was shot and killed by Altamonte Springs police officers on Wymore Road in Winter Park. Altamonte Springs detectives were conducting an investigation into an unspecified felony when they located Randall driving a vehicle shortly before 1:00 p.m. Police did not publicly identify the felony they were investigating.

Reporting from the scene indicates police pursued Randall's vehicle from the Altamonte Springs area into Winter Park. A witness who had just picked up her children from school in Eatonville described seeing Randall's vehicle traveling at high speed with police behind it. The pursuit reached the 900 block of Wymore Road near Lee Road, where Randall stopped in the roadway.

According to Altamonte Springs police, Randall abruptly exited his vehicle and ran toward officers while holding an unidentified object. Officers then fired multiple shots, striking him.
