On 08/21/2024, Timothy Lamar Crow, 52, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during a law-enforcement standoff at the Horizon Extended Stay in Conyers. The U.S. Marshals Service had tracked Crow to Rockdale County while attempting to arrest him on murder and related warrants obtained by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The warrants stemmed from the death of 35-year-old Callie Brooke Goolsby, whose body was found along Smith Chapel Road in Crawford County on August 8. On August 16, a GBI agent obtained warrants accusing Crow of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission or attempted commission of a crime.

U.S. Marshals followed investigative leads to the Conyers motel on August 21, where Crow barricaded himself and a prolonged standoff developed. Law-enforcement officers surrounded the motel while SWAT personnel responded. Authorities alleged that gunfire was directed toward law enforcement during the confrontation.

Rockdale County SWAT officers eventually entered the building and found Crow dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His death ended the attempt to arrest him on the warrants connected to Goolsby's killing.
